News/Announcements

I'm so excited that the goddess is the poster girl for God's cause. See her on the Long Island Council of Churches web site.
Three cheers for the VA. Museum of Fine Arts. I give it 2 thumbs up, and say Richmond , you have outdone yourself. Check out my favorite. Cleopatra carved in marble. She's next on my list to draw. And the beautiful nymph changing into water. They just blew me away
I also have some space at Crossroads Art Center, Staples Mill Rd. Richmond VA. and I update it every month or so.
My Statement

Art Talk

Everyone understands real art. Art is a universal language, not a private language for sophisticates. Art can tell a story, express a feeling, or be just decorative.

Anyone can make art. If you can work with your hands or play video games, you have enough dexterity to draw. If you can play a musical instrument, you know how much you have to practice. It's the same with drawing, te more you practice the better you get. And there's always room for improvement and something new to learn. Drawing is a discipline.

Drawing in plein air means working outside in natural light, without using a camera. You can say "from life" when talking about figure drawing, and it means the same, only indoors. I say I'm drawing in plein air because the statues I draw aren't alive, but I'm getting suntanned.

The advantages to drawing in plein air are that you can see the subject clearly and in depth, with true colors and values. Drawing the statues has let me get finished drawings with volume in the figures.

I've been drawing the statues in Hollywood Cemetery fr a few years, and Im not finished. Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens is so beautiful, I want to draw it all.

I joined the Richmond Metropolitan Artist Assoc. And I also went back to a figure drawing group that I enjoyed a few years ago.

I'll update my web site every few months so you can see my progress
